Cherry picker

It is a pity that I write
only when skies turn dark in hue,
that only sadness makes it out
as crawling ink on paper-blue.

When I'm with you, thoughts fly away,
not grief nor cold can shade my day.
You make me shine, I forget pain
and writing too...

Wary plod

There was a time,
when life
was measured in time
between "now"
and the weekend…

When I would get up
in the morning, feeling
already weakened...

Counting the days
to the moment that
I find the piece
that would bring me peace...

***
Lo and behold!
The solution is here!
I'm happy and cheerful,
but what do I hear?
***

I sense someone's voice
whisper into my ear:
"It will stop making sense,
after a year".

Now I have nothing
to measure,
that time is back,
except the feeling,
that someone is behind my back.

My day

How am I supposed
to live one more day?
When you, and your warmth
are somewhere away...

When objects around me
and things that I do,
just keep on reminding -
how much I miss you...

I have to survive,
I have to get through!
Remember, my heart
is beating for you.

Some interesting etymologies

If I were a Roman or a Greek, I'd probably laugh my head off every time I encountered a "fancy" word. The meaning of such a word is quite obvious if you can parse it and see the words "underneath" it. Once you can do that, many words become trivial: "the country between two rivers", "knowledge about life", "love of knowledge", "right-handed on both sides", etc.

The examples above are most likely known to you, so here is something new.

Eter

Niciodată n-am avut coşmaruri,
şi-n vis zburam, păşeam pe nori...
Dar într-o zi de primăvară,
am învăţat cum e să ai fiori.

Pleoape grele dimineaţa
ca o ancoră m-au legat,
nu pot să mişc un ochi, o mână,
şi gândul e încătuşat.

Cu ciob de sticlă-i presurată,
podeaua moale de cândva,
păşesc încet, scrâşnindu-mi dinţii...
Nici pe Jupiter nu-i aşa!

Afară e o junglă densă,
sau poate e un labirint?
De cicatrici e plin asfaltul,
iar aerul e ruginit.

Suflarea-mi taie ca o lamă,
al teiului intens miros.
El mă sufocă şi mă strânge,
plămânii mi se-ntorc pe dos...

Cu limbi de foc se umple cerul,
privesc al soarelui apus -
mă doare, arde şi retina-mi,
dar nu găsesc un loc de-ascuns...

Eu fug de lume şi de mine,
în cuşcă intru sângerând.
Răpus, mă-ntorc din nou în vis,
eter în mână încălzind.

Stropi

Aprilie, e gheaţă,
şi iarna a venit.
Eu mâna mi-o-ncălzesc
un text scriind grăbit.

Soarele-i cu dinţi,

woman holding showing index finger, smiling

Aici vedem o altă femeie, care nu pare atât de fericită, dar ne arată şi ea ceva - o mână.

Woman showing her hand

Un bărbat, nu ştiu dacă e fericit sau dacă e trist, dar cel puţin are o faţă serioasă şi nu are chef de glume.

Man showing index finger

Ce putem spune despre aceşti oameni?

Group of Indian people showing their index fingers

Se pare că ceea ce vedem e ceva tipic culturii indiene, pentru că prin părţile noastre nu întâlnim aşa ceva (există o excepţie).

GNOME survey

In the recent past a survey was held among GNOME users, the results are available - Gnome 3.0 General Sociological Research.

Some of the details are interesting, this information can be helpful. I am particularly proud of the fact that most Gnomers are educated people with a university degree and that most of them want to continue their studies.

Perhaps this means that the survey is biased towards this group of people; it could also mean that Gnome is mostly used by this social group (which is a quite small part of the global population). Either way, take a look at the results and try to apply them in your activities.

Un cântec gratuit de la Moby

În viitorul apropiat Moby va lansa un album nou - "Wait for me". Dacă lucrurile evoluează conform planului, albumul va fi disponibil în ziua de 30 iunie.

Între timp, putem copia gratuit piesa "Shot in the back of the head" în format MP3.

Aici puteţi urmări clipul piesei "Shot in the back of the head".

Without you

Imagine a world without colour,
or one with no concept of taste,
your mouth's always dry and the sorrow
turns every thought into waste.

A world where an action is useless,
for no one is there to enjoy
the benefits of all your efforts.
Everything will be destroyed.

A mantle of darkness surrounds you,
as emptiness climbs up the walls.
You're cold, and you're thirsty and hungry...
The hands of the clock barely crawl.

You're lonely, and people keep leaving,
can't stop them... this cannot be true!
With sadness you look in the mirror,
and all you can say is "you too?"
