Re: discoverability: I remember how frustrated I've been when I found out that Shift+Click_on_No in an "Overwrite?" dialog does "No to All" -- after spending a good half an hour clicking "no no no"...

Thanks very much - I also did not know this and needed it. But you are much too lenient on the rascals. First of all, there's no excuse for the error messages not to be in selectable text. I can't imagine what laziness is behind this not getting fixed. Second, the solution -- even if it were well documented, would not be a good one. Who wants to find a text editor to paste this into so the desired part can be extracted and googled? Third, error messages are often frequent and unavoidable -- for example in some open source software whose creators espouse the philosophy "we don't document error messages -- just google them."
